Annika Marthinuss’ solo exhibition Layers features paintings of different memories and moments in time layered on top of each other. Some layers are hidden, and some are more visible, just as some memories linger and some fade away. Many of the works include scenes from her childhood and meaningful places.
Annika Marthinuss is a junior art education major from Maryland. Working primarily with oils and acrylics, Marthinuss explores themes of memory, nostalgia, and place through layered paintings. Photographs and memories serve as inspiration for most of her works. Marthinuss has exhibited her work at the Howard County Arts Council in Maryland.
