Opening October 2: BFA Senior Solo Shows: Session I

Join us for Session I of the senior solo shows featuring artists Abigail Buckley, Nate Johnson, Joy Park, and Sarah Romano. These senior BFA students have been exploring their own interests and mediums throughout their years at TCNJ and are excited to exhibit their artwork in a gallery setting.

Abigail Buckley: The Journey of Life

ABIGAIL BUCKLEY is a fine artist whose work focuses on stories that she creates through fantasy illustrations that often convey strength and power. She uses watercolor paint and a brush with a fine-enough tip to paint the most intricate details. She also enjoys how easily watercolor paint can be controlled. Her ideas come from her life and experiences, which she turns into often fantastical illustrations. There is always an underlying meaning in each of her pieces, but it is not always easily visible due to the fictive narratives. In her work, she aims to allow people to come to their own conclusions about what a piece means to them.

Nate Johnson: The View from the Floating Hourglass

NATE JOHNSON is a lens-based artist from New Jersey. Johnson’s work explores concepts of time and technology, and how the rise of the digital age is challenging the real world as we know it. Growing up in the Internet age, Johnson understands the importance of addressing our human relation to cyberspace, simulating Internet experiences in his work. The power of an image is that it can freeze time in place indefinitely. Johnson recognizes the strength in capturing moments and uses the gift of time in both photography and video work.

Joy Park: In Harmony

JOY PARK is a photographer and videographer who focuses on the different forms of relationships take for anyone over time. Most of the inspiration for her work comes from her own experiences and her observations of others and their surroundings. She works to include deeper meaning in each photo, allowing her to share her stories with the audience, and to connect connecting each of the works.

Sarah Romano: Navigating – Closure

SARAH ROMANO is a fine artist whose work focuses on complex layers of human experience through painting. Most of the inspiration comes from her own life. Her process is intuitive, creating work to express vulnerability and resilience. There is no specific story told throughout her paintings, instead, experiences are shown in small portions. Her goal is not only to portray her own experiences but also to create something that can resonate with the viewer.
